Bruce B. Krost (1906-1994)

Bruce B. Krost was a patent lawyer and children's right advocate with a long list of affiliations on boards and commissions at the local and state levels.

Mr. Krost graduated from South High School and earned his law degree from Adelbert College at Western Reserve University in 1930. He was admitted to practice before the Ohio State Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court that year.

He specialized in patent law and was in practice from 1930 to 1985, when he retired from Woodling, Krost, & Rust. Mr. Krost was involved in a number of interesting cases during his distinguished legal career with Woodling, Krost and Rust including: Ropat Corp v. McGraw-Edison Co., 535 F.2d 378, 191 USPQ 556 (7th Cir. 1976) and In re Rubinfield, 123 USPQ 210 (CCPA 1959).

He cofounded the firm as Woodling & Krost in the mid-1930's and took time out for military service during World War II, where he served in the Navy.

He served as an adviser to the firm after his retirement.

Mr. Krost balanced his interest in law with his passion for being a children's rights advocate.

He was a president and trustee of Children's Services of Cleveland; president, trustee and adviser of the Cleveland Welfare Federation, chairman of the Adoption Committee of the Cleveland Welfare Federation; and a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Child Adoption Department of the Cuyahoga County Probate Court.

Mr. Krost was also a member and adviser of the Joint Committee of the Cleveland Bar Association and president and trustee of the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland.

He was the Cleveland and Ohio Chairman for the 1960 White House Conference on Children and Youth, chairman of the Welfare Federation committee on day care for preschool children, member of the advisory committee for Blossom Hill School for Girls, member of the advisory committee for the Cleveland Boys School in Hudson, and a member of the Cuyahoga County Child Welfare Division.
